Planning a Trip to China

No that’s not just a clever, metaphorical title, it’s actually what I’ve been doing over the past few days.

A couple of months ago, my friend Chrissy moved to Shanghai, China to take a job as the head of youth ministry for a church there. She’s anxious for friends to come visit, as I’m sure anyone who moves by themselves to another country is. So, her brother Ron and I decided we would plan a trip to go visit.

I’m really excited about the idea of visiting and exploring a country on the other side of the world. I definitely never thought this is a place I would go, but what an amazing opportunity. Plus, we’ll be there the first week of February, which is during Chinese New Year! This trip is definitely going to be an amazing experience and one that I’m really looking forward to.

The only downside is that there are so many things you need to do before you can actually go.

So far I have:

- Researched flights.
- Applied for a passport.
- Researched how to get a travel visa. I need to get my passport back before I can do this.
- Started thinking about what I want to do when I’m there.
- Asked Chrissy to plan lots of fun activities.
- Thought about all the cool photo/video blogs I’m going to post during the trip.

In other news, the last few months have gone by so fast. I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving, which is, incidentally, my favorite holiday. I can’t wait.

Also, there is a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters tomorrow night at the Mount Washington Tavern. All you have to do is make reservations under their name or show up at the bar, and they have the strong chance of winning $10,000. Come out and hang and support a great organization.

More details about the China trip to follow in the coming weeks.
